Struggling Miami Marlins Fall to Padres

The slumping Marlins lost for the eighth time in nine games after a 7-2 defeat at the hands of the visiting San Diego Padres. Carlos Zambrano suffered his ninth loss of the year for the Marlins.

The reeling Marlins were crushed at home in their series opener with the Padres After being moved to the No. 3 spot before the game, Jose Reyes provided a spark for Miami blasting a 4th inning RBI triple. Carlos Lee would follow up with an RBI of his own, but that would be all of Miami's offense for the night. Starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano went 5 plus giving up 4 earned runs, all coming in a 5-run sixth inning for the Padres. Zambrano fell to 5-9 on the season while Padres Kip Wells earned the win as San Diego handed Miami their 8th loss in their last 9 games, 7-2.
