St. Louis Cardinals Topple Rockies

Adam Wainwright threw six strong innings in the Cardinals' 4-1 win over the visiting Colorado Rockies. Wainwright and three St. Louis relievers combined for 13 strikeouts in the victory.

The Cardinals took down the Rockies at Busch Stadium onall Independence Day. Adam Wainwright tossed six solid innings allowing just one run on eight hits while striking out seven Colorado batters. Matt Holliday's RBI double in the first gave St. Louis an early 1-0 lead, and later in the eight David Freese drove in a pair with his single to center as the Red Birds topped the Rox 4-1.
