Red Sox Swept Away by Athletics

The Boston Red Sox dropped their third straight in a 3-2 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday. David Ortiz recorded his 400th career home run, while starter Aaron Cook took the loss.

The Red Sox were swept away in their series finale with the Athletics. Boston tied the game at one in the fourth on David Ortiz's 400th career home run, a solo shot to right. The Sox took the lead on an Adrian Gonzalez single in the sixth, but starter Aaron Cook couldn't hold it. Brandon Inge drove in the tying run with an RBI double in the sixth and Jemile Weeks drove in the go ahead run in the seventh with an RBI single as Boston dropped their third straight, 3-2 to the A's. Boston heads home to face the Yankees in a four game series before the All-Star break.
