The Red Sox faltered late against the Mariners at the Coliseum on Tuesday. Jon Lester tossed six and two third solid innings allowing just one run on four hits while striking out nine, but did not factor in the decision. Boston broke the one all tie after David Ortiz scored in the fourth on a error by Chris Carter, however Oakland would rally. Brandon Moss's RBI single in the ninth knotted the game at two, then Coco Crisp scored the winning run with his sac fly as the A's upended the Sox 3-2.
