Pittsburgh Pirates Top Houston Astros

The visiting Pirates scored two runs in the top of the ninth to defeat the Houston Astros, 6-5. Drew Sutton scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch by Astros reliever Xavier Cedeno.

The Pirates rallied late to beat the Astros on Friday night at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Jeff Karstens went 5 innings for Pittsburgh, giving up 4 earned runs on 6 hits while fanning 7. Houston's Chris Johnson went 3-4 and fell a single shy of hitting for the cycle. Astros starter Jordan Lyles lasted 6 innings surrendering 4 earned runs on 7 hits but didn't factor in the decision. Pittsburgh trailed 5-4 in the ninth before Starling Marte tied the game with a sac fly. Drew Sutton then then scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch and Joel Hanrahan recorded his 31st save of the year as the Pirates pulled it out, 6-5.
