The Pirates gave AJ Burnett a four run lead after the first and the right hander did the rest in a near no-hitter against the Cubs. Casey Coleman started in place of the recently traded Ryan Dempster and gave up a grand slam in the first to Neil Walker. Burnett took a no hitter into the 8th inning in a dominant performance, striking out 8 and walking two for the complete game shutout. He allowed only one hit to pinch hitter Adrian Cardenas with two outs in the 8th as the Pirates rolled the Cubbies 5-0.
