Maholm Solid in Braves Win Over Padres

Paul Maholm grabbed his first home win in the Atlanta Braves' 6-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday The win kept the Braves four and a half games back of first place in the NL East.

The Braves beat the Padres for the 2nd straight game on Wednesday. Atlanta Starting pitcher Paul Maholm had a great outing pitching 7 innings while striking out 7, scattering 5 hits and surrendering only one earned run earning him his 11th win on the year. San Diego's starting pitcher Edinson Volquez didn't last very long. Volquez gave up six runs on seven hits and issued two walks in only 3 and 2/3rd innings. Braves' Dan Uggla gave atlanta the lead in the 3rd inning with a 3 run homer. Jason heyward added 2 more runs in the 4th with a double as the Braves roughed up the Padres, 6-1.
