Cook, Boston Red Sox Shut Out Mariners

Aaron Cook tossed a two-hit shutout in the Red Sox's 5-0 win over the Seattle Mariners on Friday. Will Middlebrooks, Cody Ross and Daniel Nava hit solo homers in the fifth inning for the offense.

The Red Sox used the long ball to defeat the Mariner's at Sefeco Field on Friday night. Aaron cook tossed nine strong innings allowing just two hits while fanning two batters. Opposing pitcher Hector Noesi struggled on the night allowing seven hits, and five earned runs including four home runs in five innings of work. Most of the damage was done in the fifth when Boston tallied three solo home runs to take a three-point advantage. Later in the sixth, Jarrod Saltalamacchia completed the home run assault with a 2-run blast, his 15th of the season, as the BoSox blanked the M's, 5-0.
