Chicago White Sox Dominated by Royals

The White Sox were crushed by the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, 9-1. Matt Thornton took the loss for Chicago who gave up nine unanswered runs over the final three innings to the Royals.

The White Sox dropped the rubber match with the Royals Sunday afternoon as Luis Mendoza allowed just one run over 5 2/3 innings while relieving Danny Duffy, who left in the first inning due to elbow tightness. Philip Humber surrendered one run while striking out seven over 6 2/3 but Addison Reed was roughed up for six runs in the 9th inning to put the game out of reach as Chicago lost 9-1 at US Cellular Field. The Sox will play host to the  Tigers for a two game stint beginning Monday night.
