The Reds failed to win consecutive games as they fell to the Tigers Saturday afternoon at the Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati right-hander Bronson Arroyo limited Detroit to two runs on five hits through seven innings but did not factor in the decision. Third baseman Todd Frazier’s two-run single tied the game at two in the fourth. However in the top of the eighth, first baseman Prince Fielder delivered with an RBI single, plating Brennan Boesch as the go-ahead run, and Detroit held on for the 3-2 victory. The Reds will turn to Homer Bailey for the rubber-game of the series Sunday night.
