Philadelphia Phillies starter and 2008 World Series MVP Cole Hamels has been fined & suspended five games by MLB for intentionally beaning Washington Nationals rookie Bryce Harper on Sunday.

Major League Baseball announced on Monday that Phillies starter Cole Hamels has been suspended five games and fined for intentionally throwing at Nationals rookie Bryce Harper. Hamels plunked Harper in the back with a fastball in the first inning on Sunday night and after the game the Philies starter admitted that he deliberately threw at Harper.  Hamels was scheduled to begin serving his suspension on Monday night when the Phillies hosted the New York Mets.  For all the latest news around Major League Baseball, stay with CineSport.
